ssangyong musso
Discussion
hi i have a ssangyong musso 2.9 non turbo diesel 1995 its got a clutch related problem , the clutch pedal has gone straight to the floor with no resistance it happened at traffic lights with no warning ? there was no slipping no strange noises smells etc the gears work fine if engine if switched off will start up in gear & drive but cant select gears as no clutch pedal there is no loss off fluid from the clutch resevoir ? any possible faults or known sypmtoms thanks joetow ....
I've had that fault due to a failed seal in a master/slave cylinder, even when there's been no loss of fluid, but other options are that the diaphragm spring in the centre of the clutch plate has failed or gone over-centre, or the clutch actuating arm (the 'lever' that the slave cylinder pushes that disengages the clutch) has bent, failed or come adrift in some way.
You might be able to get some indication if you get under the car and watch the clutch actuating arm move while someone depresses the clutch pedal.
Bottom line, though, is that it's f
ked, so unless you want to get into replacing hydraulics or changing clutch components yourself, get it recovered to a garage who will be able to both diagnose and repair the fault.
