There seems to be an outbreak of common sense in the Government this week, lets hope it continues and gets acted on.

I think that this government realised very early on that most of the population want the really important stuff sorted out while the stuff that only tofu munching greenies and career lefties care about can be set to one side, hopefully for good.

I was very impressed that all the stop smoking/you MIGHT be having a stroke/WATCH OUT!! Bird Flu about!/daddy is the world going to end if we drive our cars?/you're a motorist so therefore you are a MURDERER!!! adverts stopped almost the day they took power.
Good thing too. I think people will look back at them in a couple of decades and shake their heads at how controling the previous government were.

I think it's more an indication of how bad the last lot were than this bunch being particularly special,

Probably true, "best of a bad bunch" springs to mind, but that's politians and politics in general.

Not that I'm complaining though! All sounds like good stuff, long may it continue.

Odd that we are almost celebrating this stuff when a couple of decades ago it didnt even exist....

Remember this is also politics. Politics is a popularity contest with the voters.

A new government will not do everything straight away that they promised to. There's nothing worse than doing everything in one big lump and getting a month of good popularity followed by 11 months of dropping ratings to their rival party when you can drip feed voter happy policies every now and again to maintain the voters support. Especially when the shadow government have voted a new leader, much confusion in their voters ranks because the one they voted for lost (Alien-Dave) and the one the Unions backed (Alien-Ed) won. So hit the voters with common sense and happiness policies to greater effect.

He did come across as an arrogant tt, didn't he.
He should stick to what he knows best - devouring pies.

You're forgetting the only profession he had was as a waiter. He was professional within the context of that and that alone.

The fat buffoon.

Not sure if that was tongue in cheek, but Presclott's "profession" was being a steward on a ferry! . . . . . .prompting members of the Conservative old guard to make "Guiseppe get me another G&T" style comments when he went into the bars at Westminster
