Guys.
Have recently joined the local TVRCC and this site . Considering sourcing a good example Taimar or 3000M as my first classic car venture ( for weekend driving only ).
Is this a good idea ? ( Yes , I have a reliable mechanic ..)
Also any suggestions on finding these rare specimens would be appreciated !Please e-mail if you can help..

Dram, a good place to start your search is in the monthly TVRcc 'sprint' magazine, where this months issue out this week has no less then 3 3000m's and 2 Taimars advertised.

Thanks for the advice Acegrantura . Looking for originality ( difficult to find ! ) Will let you know how I get . Note you have a Grantura ( nice choice ...)
I have seen the odd one come up on ebay and auto trader. If you do go to look at any give the chassis a good looking at because they are a swine to repair usually needing the body off to do it properly. I found Adrian Venn (Exactly TVR) excellent for advice and spares when I did mine.

Hello Dram,
I brought a 3000m which I had for just under 5 years it was the best!! I have never had so much fun in a car..Hillclimbs,shopping,lemans, you name it the old girl did it and always with a grin on the driver. The parts were always cheap and I never really had any problems with it until I started to try and improve the car by doing a body off resto to find it rotten in the hidden places. I still totally miss the old girl but she had to go to support the new race car, I couldnt afford both . Anyway moral of the story is go for it!!!! By far a great car!

Would you consider a 3000M Turbo for a first TVR Classic ? Extra power and grin factor , or is having a Turbo a bit technical for the home enthusiast ?
