Has anyone tried those "Drift what ya brung" days at Santa Pod?

I'd like to have a go at improving my average (at best) drift skills, but don't want to get laughed at...

I've personaly not done either Russ, but I'd fancy a go at one of the drift days at Oulton park:

good fun day - theres 5 different courses for varying abilities so no one will be laughing at you. just start out by donutting a cone, and then gradually enlarge the radius. first time i went i was in the least powerful car there (an MX5) without an LSD, so wasnt really drifting, but still a good day. The organisers are friendly and are more than happy to give pointers if you ask.

watch the temperature gauge and expect to get through a few tyres on the day - other than that, have fun!

Brillo, this is a long shot, but was that MX5 a silver, G plate, Eunos Roadster?

Am i going to be continually hitting big cones?

(Its a daily driver so don't want to bust panels up!)

Iturned up to one of these sessions in a Boxster 2.5 (daily runner at the time)to find a full array of proper Japanese drifting machinery bar the odd MX5 and Monaro!! The guys running it couldn't have been more pleasant and were happy to jump in and give tips/lessons.

One tip - take spare tyres if it's a dry day as you will smoke through them - I managed two sets fortunately they were the part worns they supply on the day (no guarantees of availability) for free all you pay is £5 per wheel for the mobile tyre fitter on the day.

no, that wasnt me lol...

wouldnt worry about cones, three of the tracks are so small they only have 2 cones in the middle. there is a larger course, but i wouldnt bother with that unless you're getting good.

No worries, just wondering who owns the legend that was GOK, which was spotted at a DWYB a while back..
