Just on my way ti my car after my shift and see a car on double yellows with a ticket and a note on the window saying:
"broken down, ecu died, awaiting recovery" etc, seemed legit as it was sitting there with a bunch of warning lights on the dash.
It isn't in a dangerous place or anything, was the traffic warden a bit harsh in this respect or are rules rules with this kind of thing?

Traffic warden was probably annoyed at having to work at this time at night."broken down, ecu died, awaiting recovery" etc, seemed legit as it was sitting there with a bunch of warning lights on the dash.

How long had it been there ?"broken down, ecu died, awaiting recovery" etc, seemed legit as it was sitting there with a bunch of warning lights on the dash.

If they are taking the piss they would have found a lovely ticket waitng for them, if genuine, they will be a bit miffed!
The fitters at work (bathroom/kitchen place) often turn up in their vans to load up for their next job or whatever, and yesterday one of them was there at about 8 to pick up items for his first job, came back again at about 11 for some more items (bear in mind it takes no more than five minutes to grab a few boxes and put them in the van). Whilst he was in the warehouse, he got a ticket because the w
ker warden had obviously taken his number earlier, seen the van there three hours later, and presumed that he was there the whole time. Said fitter said to him "look, I was just collecting some goods so that I can do my job - I've been here no more than five minutes"
"Well, you've collected one of these now, haven't you?"
Tossers.

Up to the owner to get breakdown cover and the responsibility lies with them to move the car if undriveable. A broken down car could be causing as much of an obstruction as a badly parked one. Traffic wardens have probably heard every excuse in the book and tons that aren't. If people didn't try and squirm and scream their way out of tickets then maybe they would have more time and understanding for genuine plight!
