My pa and I got up really early this morning, there was a grudge match. The CTR against the R Turbo.

These test are not however in anyway scientific and to be honest probably not that accurate, but fun non the less...

Conditions are wet but sunny, so the runs were going to be from 45mph to 100mphish. In fourth gear.

First run:

Im in the R turbo and my pa is in the CTR. We both nail it at the same time and surprisingly the CTR actually leaps ahead by a length and slowly pulls ahead to 100ish.

Second run:

From 60ish, i shift down to third, my pa is still in 4th. The CTR gets the jump on me for about 1/2 a second. However im in third and am confident, flatten the accelerator and cannot catch the little yellow rocket which continues to slowly pull ahead, shift quickly to fourth flatten the pedal and the CTR is still slowly pulling ahead. We shut down at quite a quick speed.

But heres where it gets interesting, my pa hops out of the CTR, and says boost was at its lowest setting, .7 bar, its max is 1.2....

Great fun, bruntingthorpe is looking very interesting,

all the best

...i suppose the ctr is a fair bit lighter, what are the respective gearing ratios....is the ctr a 6 speeder? Any idea on the bhp pushed out by the ctr at the different boost settings?

Cheers friend

There will be a point when aerodynamics will come into play, then the CTR will lose out

Get a tyre company to sponsor you now. Stefan Roser gets through a set every two laps at the ring IIRC

I know aerodynamically i think the CTr tries its best but is still let down, however i think it has quite a small frontal area and those little wing mirrors

LMAO - I'm reading this thinking 'what the bloody hell is this topic doing in a Porsche forum?!'.

CTR -> Civic Type R

R Turbo - Bentley Turbo

Rubbish.

Having V-maxxed various brickotica at indicated speeds in excess of 150, even 160 mph I can personally testify to the inverse relationship 'twixt slippery shapes and enormous fuel consumption.

I am quite sure, that had I utilised the racing mirrors from the Porsche 956 then wor old Benterschwein RT would easily have surpassed 180 mph...wiper removal would have ensured 195.75 and sellotaping proles against the mesh grille (to prevent excess limb flailage) might even have granted a magical figure commensurate with the highest schnellerhaus imaginable, i.e. a barely credible 200.

One has to 'punch through' the brick wall of air that accompany the higher speeds but power, pure and simple will force the plunderage of the vortex thereafter.

God save Albion.
