Anyone know whats good for getting this stuff off? I bought a bonnet off ebay and the seller described it as 'needing a wash' but it seems to have been parked under a tree for a couple of years

Depends what sort of sap. Usually water will do, unless its resinous and you'll need white spirit to remove it, followed by clay and a sound polish with something nice.

resinous? I think it's cancerous, Mer, T Cut and alcohol wont even begin to make a difference

WD40 can sometimes work - takes tar off nicely - panel wipe is pretty good too

I have had this problem for some time. The answer is simple - lard. Smear lard over the affected area, leave for a few days and wipe off. Works a treat.

give it wash, ten clay it - don't ponce about with anything else

A small amount of urine (50mL/L) of soapy water (use washing up liquid) will get it off. The pisonase enzyme eats through the sap very well.
