competed in my 1st sprint today using my Ultima on a circuit iv run on many a time before usually ringing the neck out of my modded Frogeye sprite , went out on my 1st run and took it very easy and came in with a time 3 seconds short of my sprites best time, by the end of the day i was running as quick but totally in a relaxed manor ( it makes it feel so easy ) , there s loads more to squeeze out of the utima iv just got to learn to drive it faster, its a fast road car , but put it on track and it comes alive!I didnt know what to expect ?? very very impressed
( the blowing own trumpet part ) i also managed to come away with a trophy 2nd in class by a blooming 17 tenths of a second to an Elise

I'd thought of doing a few sprints but I like to build speed up gradually so didn't think they would suit my driving style. I was also a bit concerned that narrow twisty roads may not suit the Ultima
Look forward to hearing of future events and in car footage would be good. You should let us know if you do any more events especially up north as I for one would like to see you putting the car through it’s paces.

Well done. Always nice to see an Ultima driven like it should be... I noticed that you have a good margin to improve your time. Some parts you really seemed to be just potting around enjoying the scenery.
Isn't that the sign of a truely fast car? nothing posses a problem to it and its speed is down to YOUR capability. I heard from a guy that moved from very fast evos to a Cupra Cup race car. he said the Cupra never 'felt' like it was going fast. it was only when he noticed that car he just overtook through the corners was a Radical that he noticed just how fast he was going! lolHi Daniel yep make you right , this was the 1st time id have had the car on track and deffinatly my 1st sprint in it , and looking at the video i can see i wasnt using as many revs as i could / should of but the good thing is the only improvement i need to make is "me" and im cheeper than modded suspension , engine , axle or any of the numerous mods iv done to my zetec powered sprite :-)
Darren if I may, I strongly recommend you take a couple of track driving lessons. IMHO they are well worth the cost, as it gives you a better knowledge of what to do when a car gets to the limit and it will give you much more confidence in your driving. A well adjusted car and a good suspension set up is so much cheaper to exploit than adding on extra hp.
Hi Daniel yes you are right about track lesons , but that is not the 1st time iv been on track only the 1st time with the ultima , iv been competing in sprints, hill climbs , and autosolos for a few years now with wins and and a club championship under my belt . ( i hope that doesnt sound like I am up my own ass )
the thing that is new to me is mid engine handling , on the sprint i was only giving it 7 tenths ( if that ) and it still gave me a time very close to my personal best for that circuit , I can see it becoming a very capable car as I get more used to it , more sprints me thinks
