My old car's turned up.

The very first kit I ever built has turned up on ebay around 25 years after I sold it.

It is a Triumph Spartan +2 and I originally built it using a Triumph Herald 13/60 Estate donor but I retro-fitted a Ford Capri 2 litre engine and gearbox with an Escort rear axle when I decided to race it.



I raced it for a couple of seasons in the fledgling 750 MC Kit Car Challenge (as it was then) then used it as a road car for a couple of years before selling it on.

Apart from the wheels and rocker cover it looks very much as I built it but has obviously had a hard life in the intervening years.

Now there's a thing. My first car was also a Spartan too which I built at 17/18. Sold it after 12 years driving it everyday to a guy who turned up at Stoneleigh this May where I bought a helmet off him for track days.
