Audio Upgrade

I'm taking delivery of a Boxster S on Thursday which has the standard audio system. My old 2.7 had the sound pack which whilst not exactly fantastic was significantly better than what I'll be getting with the S.

Can anyone recommend a worthwhile upgrade to the speakers and/or amps to get some better sound without spending big money? I don't fancy doing this myself so any pointers as to what to ask for (ie what I need rather than what I can be sold) would be much appreciated.

I read a few posts on a forum somewhere that suggested that part of the problem could lie with the CDR23 head unit. If ditching this helps then that's fine as ideally I want to be able to plat MP3s.

Have you thought about asking the dealer how much extra the he is giving you for the premium sound on your trade in?

When he says it's about the cost of a packet of wine gums, you can get him to swap the systems over for a couple of hours labor.
