Noob qustion - ACO, or an orginised agent?

hi PH,

I've never been to Le Mans before, this year that will change.

I am expecting to have 5 goons in a car, plus 2 tents - and have read the various guides and houx sounds like a good option - IF we can get tickets in time.

So, at this point either I can join the ACO, and hope I get it right, or just buy em off team langostine - what do you seasoned veterans reckon? If I got th TL route, do I have to get the enterance and camping tickets from them, or is it just as easy to get enterance at the track?

I've also looked at another agent (owner is a PHer I think), but they only offer the whole shebang as 1 hit - including ferries / eurotunnel etc. Do you have any sway over the travel times if you do this?

Camped for the first time last year through race tours. Stayed at mulsanne and had a excellent time. They are definately worth consideration.

5 people in 2 tents - well if you didn't know them well at the start you sure will at the end.

after a few days soaking up the sun you really value your privacy, or rather not having some sweaty bloke farting, snoring and "rustling" his sleeping bag in a suspicious manner - seriously recommend one man tents, some great pop up ones these days

you might want to take some shade as well

As far as tickets go we've always bought ours through an agent - 1st Tickets are pretty good, prices are fine pretty much face value give or take

The agent route is hassle free.
If you need to speak before buying, then give Andy or Pete a buzz at TL. Will give advice regardless of whether you buy from them.

I'd agree with this advise.. They can answer questions that you didnt know you needed to ask. You also benefit from a camaraderie when you get to site (like belonging to a club) even if you dont stay in their own private site.

I'm hoping to return next year with half a dozen virgins and will be using them again.

Thanks all, just booked =)

Next step - Eurotunnel. Anyone got any advice re. good times to get in / out? I'm thinking that at the end of the race we might be too knackered to drive back to Calais, and the traffic might be mental. Any advice from the seasoned experts?

AG,
If you can spare the time, try and stay at the circuit Sunday night. It is always a giggle and plenty of partying going on.
If not, then try and get on a LeHavre or Cherbourg/Portsmouth fast craft. 3.5 hours crossing and only 2 1/2 hours from LeMans. I am not sure what time the boats leave, but far more civilized and not such a ball ache of a drive.

If you leave your car in the campsite and then leave when the race ends, then expect a 2 hour delay getting out.
So do this. Sometime Sunday morning, pack up and leave your car on one of the roads just North of the main entrance ( need only be 500 metres away), then walk back. That way when the race ends, you walk to your car and will be gone long before the roads get blocked.
