Hi all,
I just moved to Reading, rode my motorbike from Holyhead.
Need to buy a car, sooner rather than later.
Staying in a hotel at the moment, but do need to find a one or two bed by the end of the month. Any pointers would be appreciated regarding the good bad areas around Reading, and or near Newbury.
Ps when is the next pie meeting?
:-)

Hello & welcome.Edited by SirBlade on Monday 4th October 22:18
There are some lovely areas around Reading but as with everything, it depends on how far you're prepared to travel and your budget so if you can fill in some of the blanks, I have no doubt the SAS will come to your rescue
The area that came to our attention was Caversham.
We have a little 4 yo girl and having spoken to the Caversham primary school, it turns out we've missed the first year, and its going to be pretty difficult to get her into school. This is a pretty big issue, have you guys seen or heard of anyone working around it? All the schools seem to have waiting lists....

I'm just over the other side of the river in Purley so not sure about the Caversham schools specifically. There are schools in the Tilehurst area which will find you space, it is also worth looking at some of the village schools in the more rural areas as they will often make room. It is always worth talking to the head teachers as they are often quite helpful where as to the local authority you are just another voice on the phone. Good luck!
I have all your answers
Vehicle ......Transit van
Accomodation....Caravan
Then if you choose the school you'd like to send your kids to, and proceed to park your caravan on their field (they won't charge you rent) your children will also be able to attend that school as they have to leave spaces available for people who camp on their field
