I'm still loving my Boxster, but I fancy a bit of a volume increase, without upsetting the OPC warranty.

Is the Porsche sports exhaust (the one with the dimples on the tailpipes) any good, and does it sound better?

What model year is yours?

The exhaust changed MY03 on and the old Sports Exhaust doesn't fit. Not sure if they have a new one.

And the exhaust note on MY03 on cars changed quite a bit - much more resonant...but if yours is an 03-04 car I think you'd have to ask Porsche about your options.

But. Since the exhaust is designed to be whisper quiet at tickover and driving around town but thrill once over 4000rpm have you just considered putting your foot down?

Mines a 2000, I'd just like a bit more/rawer noise at 4000rpm+

Porsche do a sports exhaust for your car, then.

Its OK. But its only about the sound...you don't get a bhp hike or anything. You have to hear one to know if its going to float your boat.

Lets hope another PHer near you has one you could listen to. Failing that you could post on the PCGB board - the Boxster register has quite a community on there...

...the porsche one does look and sound great. The Janspeed is very good too, i helped fit one to a friends boxster along with the decat pipe, now that is the business. It does give extra bhp too circa 20. Enough to allow a noticable extra push at 4k+ rpm. The engine just seams to rev more easily. It will cost less than the porsche one too. Shouldn't have any trouble with the mot emissions as long as it is tested hot by an "understanding" specialist.

I'm fully sold on the sports exhaust root, i've got one on my 996 and really gets me going when singing at 4k+. Mind you i can understand people not liking them, horses for courses and all that...i just love the flat six sound track

I had one fitted from new on my S - I love it.
It isnt noisy at lower revs so you can easily cruise along the motorway without contstant excessive noise, however over 4k revs it starts singing really nicely. A must have !
