Had my cerbie noise metered today...

At 1m distance and 45 degrees from the pipes and at a constant 4000 RPM...

119.8 Db

Suppose that means track days are out!

Be interested to know what others are putting out...

Cheers

Hi dai capp.

Not had the new car tested, the old 4.2 got to 108db long before the 4000rpm
so he shook his head and waved me away.

By the way, that was me turning around and waving at you after the last Tuscan race today.

Guessed it was you from the James Agger sticker, the colour and the headlamp conversion... Very nice it looked too!

Hope you enjoyed the racing...

All the best

What was the 2nd Tuscan race like - must have been interesting in the wet! Saw your car DC - but didn't see you near it, I was after a look at your speaker install as I'm doing mine next week! Missed yours Graham. Also, does anyone know what position Lawrence finished in the 2nd GT race?

Excellent day thanks.

I would have come over for a chat at the end, but my wife has a job application
to complete and had to get back.

Next time.

Shame I wasn't around, you'd have been more than welcome to have a poke around inside...

2nd race was pretty good as it went a few spills as you'd expect in the wet...

Sorry I missed you DJ
Mine was tucked away on the front row above the sparkplug booth over looking the infield
section (Craner / Old hairpin etc )

If you mean Lawrence Tomlinson, he finished 2nd...but...almost won it,
lost it on the last corner when the rain came down.

Be good to have a chat - next 'major' racing we'll be going to is May 9th at Donington for the Euroboss.

Other than that we'll be at Snetterton on Easter Sunday for the 750 Roadsports (supporting the David Gerald TVR cars) if you fancy a trip over...

Oh and pass on my best wishes for the job application!

Cheers

That's what I thought had happened. We watched in amazement from a good vantage point just before the home straight. At about the half way point we were laughing as he was moving through the field and passed 3 360's on the same lap! We were just saying that if could do one of the Porsches up front it'd make our day. Right on cue he came past in front of the white/blue porsche. We didn't realise he was actually challenging for the lead until the 2nd to last lap when I heard the commentary. What a superb drive , hats off to him!
Do you know where the car came from (other than Blackpool); it looks the same colour as the Typhon that his brother(?) ordered. I presume his car was the 440, not the supercharged car?

Had my cerbera 4.2 decat and sports pipes tested at elvington and it came out at 118.8db at 4000 rpm.
Going to jooles in April to see if he can make me a pair of add on silencers to bolt-on across back of car for track days.

It is logarithmic, but +3dB is double the SPL. +10dB is 10 times the level, +20dB is 100 times etc...

10 x log(Pa/Pb)

Golfman,

Thanks for the link to that thread, very informative

I thought Db's were logarithmic but not being too clever with this sort of thing didn't know how it worked.

The upshot is the exhaust is officially bloody loud but then my neighbours tell me that when I leave for work at 6am...

I have no guilt because one of them is a bell ringer at the church behind where I live and practice seems to start at 10pm on a Monday night!

Cheers
