Anyone put harnesses in?

I have the Tower View rollbar which I believe has harness mounts.

Has anyone put a four-point in to their S?

Where do you attach the lap part? To the seat mountings?

Any help / product suggestions appreciated.

Longers and Jaye both have them. I've seen others too but can't remember who at the moment

No doubt folk who actually have them will be along to explain but would imagine lap part uses the standard mountings on the transmission tunnel into the chassis and through the sills into the outriggers ?

Seat mountings are only through fibreglass, not a lot of strengh there !

On the driver's side, my car has modified seat mountings - metal bars bolted to the chassis.

I'm hoping to keep the standard belt but have the harness as an option.

I have used the standard seat belt mounting points for the lap parts of the harness. You can leave the original belt in if you want to.

If you use eye bolts to secure the original belts you will be able to clip and unclip the harnesses when ever you want to. You need to use the longer eye bolts available though.



If you haven't already bought harnesses you might want to consider the Luke options, they have a different buckle design that I presonally prefer, each to their own though. They are approved for the road.

V8S, sounds like mine are mounted like Liam's.

Mine were on the car when I got it and original belts have been removed. Personally I'd try and keep the originals aswell if possible, they're much more convenient for short journies and not all passengers like wearing the harnesses.

Thanks chaps. As I say I want to keep the original belts, so I'd be interested in having a look at yours Liam if you'd be kind enough to show me. I'm in Weston now and I believe you're around that area? Or was it Bridgwater?

Its a brave man (or woman) that runs with race harnesses and without a race spec anti-roll bar imho (I'm unsure if the Tower View one meets the standard) In a worse case scenario i.e. a full roll, a normal seat belt will give your body and your head/shoulders some manouverability but when you're strapped in a harness you wont be able to move at all - the windscreen and frame will be your only saviour, if at all

I am under the impression that the Tower View one was developed by them with input from GreenV8S and is race-approved. I may be wrong.

Speaking of whom, he hasn't been on here for about a year. Any news?

Liam's rollbar is from Tower View and he's added an extra diaganol brace.
Mine is a much more substantial custom built jobbie and has an FIA stamp on it but in reality it's probably over engineered for normal use. Unless of course your name is Seb Vettel and you're about to try and overtake your team mate Not sure if the TV ones are formally race approved but they are certainly up to the job.

I've seen some recent posts from GreenV8S on the TVRCC forum so yes, he's still around

And I totally agree with above comment - to anyone else thinking about harnesses, don't do it without a roll bar

I wouldn't consider it without the rollbar. I've emailed Pete now - hopefully he'll know more about my particular rollbar as Tower View are obviously no more.

Spoke to these guys a year or so ago when I was looking at getting a roll bar.

Their website is, in my opinion, very mis-leading. TVR S3 is listed under FIA type so you click on that and it says something like "rear hoop and diagonal £162. Thats a fair price thought I so on the phone next day, "TVR S3 roll bar please". Ah, Tower View own the rights/paid for tooling etc. for those, you'll have to speak to them. Tracked down Tower View man (closed up business in London), could get me one made but lots more money.

Anyway, had a go at Roll Centre "your web site doesn't mention TVR are special order and doesn't say prices from ....prices start at .... or similar" !

Didn't get a "good feeling" about Tower View, got the impression business was in trouble ( I may have been totally wrong) so didn't fancy handing over a big dollop of cash for something that just may not have ever arrived.

This is not a name and shame, just telling it how it was. Thinking I had found what I wanted after three or four "no we don't do one for S Series" answers I was a little Pd off when it went a bit pear shaped.
