Let this be a lesson to all, when it's slippery enough to get a car this sideways:

Then you need to brake a little earlier than you think to prevent this:

Now that's out of my system, does anyone know where I may be abe to get a replacement bonnet and front wishbones for a Sylva Phoenix (with outboard suspension)?

Is that the one that was for sale the other month? You don't muck about do you Then you need to brake a little earlier than you think to prevent this:

RAW has just bougt the rights to the Phoenix body, and will be remarketing the RAW Phoenix with a Striker chassis underneath.... So they will be able to sell you a new body. They currently do not have the headlight cover moulds ( I need a pair also ) but that should be sorted imminently as we should find out who has possesion of them pretty soon. Glad you are OK!
I met the new owners of Raw a few weeks ago and already been in touch.
I got a reply straight away which is a good sign. Just waiting for a more detailed response.
The main trouble is getting new wishbones for the older model. No-one seems to know anything about the plans or jigs. I'm considering updating the front suspension to the newer inboard suspension set up as currently used on the Striker, upgrages and future repairs (hopefully not required but you never know) would be easier too.

It's not rocket science copying a wishbone: simply give your opposite wishbone to any number of chassis fabrication companies and they will be able to knock up a mirror image for you.If you've managed to damage wishbones on both sides, give me a shout: you're welcome to copy mine. You're South West too, I see, so you can't be that far from me (I'm between Bristol and Gloucester)?

Not too far away Sam, I'm in Plymouth. I've heard back from Jeremy Phillips and he has some temporary jigs he used previously so it's sorted now. My main concern was using the correct material gauge for the replacements. Chassis can be straightened so all I need now is a shock, spring, radiator and fibreglass. If you've managed to damage wishbones on both sides, give me a shout: you're welcome to copy mine. Off topic, I've never looked at your profile before Sam. Had a nosey in the Garage.
I must get round to updating that.
The Elan was sold a couple of months back, replaced as a temporary stopgap by a £2K MX5 as my weekend pottering-about-slowly car, while I decide on a full time replacement: lack of regular use meant the Lotus' electrics were getting a bit flakey, so I'm now trying to choose between an S2000, another Elise or a Ferrari 355 spider as a 'practical' tourer.
I really must get the Sylva sold, too, as having two borderline road-cum-track cars on the fleet is a bit silly, but I've had it for almost 15 years, so I'm quite attached to it, despite the fact it's an old nail.

Heart says 355, obviously.Head says you won't be able to leave it in the car park when you go of for a days fishing, it's Italian (and therefore probably the only thing in the known universe with less reliable electrics than an old Lotus), and the £30-odd K change would buy a lot of beer and loose women.
We'll see... won't be making the decision until next spring, anyway.

Oh and make sure you get one with a Tubi or Capristo exhaust! I now carry a box of tissues with me when ever I drive it!
