nothing wrong with 15W-50 tho i'd suggest its a better summer oil than winter. i use mobil 1 5W-50 at the mo, really depends on what i've picked up cheap lately. sometimes it'll be mobil 1 0W-40, silky pro s 10W-50, castrol edge sport 10W-60.

I've been using 10W40 - part syn and changed on a fairly regular 10,000 km frequency. I've just found out Mazda have apparently revised their recommendation to a 5W30 part Syn (if its Halfraud's you'd be using, that'll be the Ford spec part syn - about £20 for 5l)
My car's done over 100k (miles) now, and has always used around 1l oil/1000 miles, but no smoke and generally gives some sort of range of numbers that it should do.

yep and it's the wrong oil to use. ford spec is the 5W-30 fuel economy oil and in their wisdom they have retrospectively specced it for all ford engines. so if you look up ford capri in the books, it will probably recommend you use a 5W-30 oil despite it being the wrong spec according to the handbook
mazda engines are not ford spec engines, they don't want a fuel economy oil.
