They've charged her £260 to fit a pair of Matador Elite tyres.....unbelievable.
If they refuse to sort this out am I allowed to name the garage?
I'm afraid not sir, it's the rules you see. If they refuse to sort this out am I allowed to name the garage?
Sorry to hear your tale though, that's terrible. Hopefully they will sort it for you.

I just had fitted 2 Kumho KH 31. £70 per tyre fitted with balnce, valves etc on a 56 93 diesel.
when pricing them up, that kind of money you are expecting Michelins. Who di it ?

Not sure I'm allowed to name names and I want to give the garage in question a chance to rectify the situation first. Suffice to say they are in Oxford.when pricing them up, that kind of money you are expecting Michelins. Who di it ?

UPDATE:
Just went and queried the price.
Garage manager "Speak to the guy who does our tyres"
Tyre guy (when I tell him they should not be more than £70-£80 each) "thats the internet price, I just checked again and they should be £145 each"
I go back to the manager
"Sorry, I cant do anything about it"
Needless to say I cancelled the work I had booked in with them for my car.

Majorly ripped off I'm affraid but they haven't done anything legally wrong. I wouldn't have cancelled the booking though, I just wouldn't have turned up.Just went and queried the price.

I'd think about a call to trading standards.
Sale of Goods
Must be of satisfactory quality
"Satisfactory quality is defined as what a ‘reasonable person’ would regard as acceptable, and takes into account factors such as price paid, fitness for purpose specified, appearance and finish, freedom from minor blemishes, safety and durability. If it becomes apparent that an item is not of the quality you were led to expect, you were not aware of any such defect when you bought it, and you bought from a seller acting ‘in the course of a business’ (i.e. not an informal sale), you are quite within your rights to go back to the retailer, even after some months of use."
Is the item sold of a satisfactory quality given the price? Yes/No... I'd think I'm a reasonable person and I'd say no.

Who invoiced you for the tyres? The dealer or the tyre guy?Just went and queried the price.

If it was the dealer then a strongly worded letter to the DP may be in order.

Her reply "I cant do anything about the tyre guy"
Me "My contract is with you, not him, is there anything you can do about this?"
Her "No, sorry."
End of story.
They are used to trading in an area of Oxford where customers arent going to scrutinise their bills, I guess they reckon one unhappy customer is a price (forgive the pun) worth paying.
I'd love to name the garage, but I cant.
