Ventilation duct hose removal?
Discussion
good morning to you all,
at work this moment, graveyard shift, and thinking about my griff and...
was thinking about the ventilation duct hose behind the plenum under window mesh etc. you know which one i think!?
question; how do you remove this hose because i want to change my 3 fuel hoses and need acces to 2 of them.
btw; is it easy to do it yourself, these 3 fuel hoses?
from what i have seen; acces to the one near upper chassis tube behind exhaustmanifold is very tight!
thanks again for yr help

I've just done this very thing. Due to pipe positioning on my pre-cat, it was absolutely impossible to get to the rubber fuel pipe to copper pipe connections without removing the vent hose. To add to the difficulty, the jubilee clip screw slots faced the bulkhead. I removed the plenum, then you can remove the vent hose.
To do this, remove the large jubilee clip found behind the glove box attaching the vent hose to the heater box, break the silicone seal under the bonnet where the hose passes through and pull the hose off the heater box stub.
The other end is attached to the drivers footwell vent, this time the jubilee clip is under the bonnet probably covered in silicone. Remove the clip and you can manipulate the vent hose away and off the car with patience.
My hose ends were then accesible, the hoses were extremely tight on the copper and had to be cut off. I'm ashamed to say they were the originals.
In my case I would never have got them off without removing the vent hose.
To make re-assembly easier, I glued the drivers footwell vent back into the trans tunnel hole before refiting the vent hose.
Not a difficult job, just time consuming.

Mine was a complete bastid.... Siliconed & glued at either end, I only replaced it when the top end was off the engine. YMMV but a pre-cursory check if it is just clamped and the pipe is 'free' on the o/s and by the mixer box connections.
I had mine taped up for quite a while before I could get access to replace it, even then it was quite a job. I think sometimes the liberal applications of silicone over the years in the hope of curing leaks can really hinder you - this certainly seemed true in my case.
Yes John, only early Griffs/Chims had a ventilation hose across the back of the engine.

good afternoon to you all,
many thanks for yr replies, my car is from '95,
and still with original fuel hoses i guess!?
so 2 clips for this hose and some plenum removal work to be done but with tvr's it sounds easy and will take some hours to do haha but we love them!!
btw is it also important to disconnect the battery and fuelpump so less pressure on system?
thanks
