Morning all,
My recently acquired manual E61 530d was first registered May 2007. I'm pretty sure that visually it is a facelift car, but initial impressions are that mpg is well down on what I was expecting. I am seeing 32mpg on a largely motorway run, where I thought high 30's were the norm. Is there a chassis or engine number cut off for pre and post LCI cars that I could check against? Another thought - Is the ECU one of those self learning jobs that maybe needs to settle down a bit after sitting on a forecourt for a while?
Thanks

Has it got the new joystick gearlever? If so, it's LCI.

It's a manual, so I can't check that. Are there any giveaways under the bonnet at all to indicate whether it has the later spec engine?

If your breaklights at the rear have a strip of orange LED's on the side it's an LCI wink

OK, in the cabin - the pre-LCI has totally different front door pulls (and indeed the whole door card); the continuation of the facia trim on pre-LCIs is on the door handle and is near perpendicular; on the post-LCI the trim is a continuation of the same line along the top of the door card and the handle is lower and smaller.

That's great thanks. Car is definately post LCI. So now I can concentrate on whether I have a problem with diesel consumption. I will run it for a few more days and see how it goes, but would appreciate any real world mpg info from post LCI 530d owners.

Problem solved. Computer was set to US mpg. Corrected setting to UK and bingo, a 6 mpg improvement! I'm happy now.
