Anyone got a pic of the rear handbrake set up? Just about to change the handbrake pads. What's the best procedure? Haven't got a Bible at the mo.
Thanks. thumbup

I have been led to believe that the best proceedure is to CUT A BLOODY GREAT BIG HOLE IN THE BOOT FOR ACCESS.

Wish I could on the FHC but theres a bloody great big fuel tank in the way.

Access isn't too bad: jack rear of car up, lie underneath with head towards front of car and slot your arms through the chassis tubes, driveshafts and exhaust.

Disconnect handbrake cable.

Knock back lock tabs 19, extract bolts 18, this lets you pull the handbrake assembly off the caliper.

Remove to bench for stripdown, free off non-operational self-adjusting ratchet, replace pads, reassemble in reverse order biggrin

Adjust pads for sensible clearance on discs so they don't bind when hot, adjust handbrake cable for 4 clicks and get a nice warm feeling inside.

Return to car the following day and find handbrake lever tears the headcloth, as usual... banghead

All IMHO, anyway wink

I see it's up for sale again, Wyn? Are you getting the Cerbera you've spoken about before?

My old 430 Chimp has come up for sale so going to have that back if I sell soon enough. If not then who knows, probably a Westfield Seight.

BTW, Many thanks for the replies. thumbup

That job was done and dusted a while back, had the bonus and spent it biggrin
More to come down there though, probably next year now - though the MOD does like to change things at the drop of a hat!
Ellesmere Port next week, again... rolleyes

Roof is usually on in my garage otherwise the spiders would take over ... eek

When I come to sell mine one day it'll be a 'custom access hatch'

Hoping to get my old Chimp back. That was a very quick machine. The Chims & Griffs are surprisingly smaller & lighter & it shows. If not then I'll hang on for something that's properly quick & performs well on track. The 450 is too good to start throwing around a track, I feel a bit of a responsibility to keep it original. Don't get me wrong, when I drive her she gets a good workout but I wand something I can modify a bit too. thumbup

Wyn before you sell it I need a few bits off it! Seats, your wheels, samco hoses, radiator, shocks, brake disks, pads, the little black plastic hex nut caps in the engine bay........ ;-)

Serious about the wheels though! ;-)
