I must admit my preference is for 2 days, as it makes it worth setting all the kit up, and if we want to give sponsors and fans a better experience and make the paddock look more professional thats the way to go...
It also gives us the time for everyone to get together in the paddock.

Motor racing is supposed to be fun. One day meets are stressful.
Two days are great but seems the worthless for most and expensive TV coverage, seem to have dictated that two day meetings have become a day. Oulton has always been a joke with sign on, and all the rest done in 6 hours - no time for Joe Punter to correct even the smallest of problems.

True it gives less time to correct issue, like accident damage and set up stuff, but since the usual is 1200 R1 and 1600 R2...4hrs should be enough.
Also, since scrute is early, many will get there the night before for the social...if they want to be social they WILL get there the night before. Either that or they aint REALLY that bothered.
Bonus that it make telly cheaper and reduces costs and you have to take less time off work. I remember in 2007/8 many complaining that with all two dayers there was too much time off work and bad travelling times (Fri night/sunday night)

Agreed. I wouldn't have done Rockingham if it had been on one day. It also gives us the time for everyone to get together in the paddock.

Yeah I suppose the point I was making was that if we want the challenge to have a higher profile, and more facilities for teams, fans and sponsors we need time to setup and take down.cheers ft
For example I'd not bother putting the truck awning up at Oulton for 2 races in the morning.
But I would for a 2 day meeting.
Precisely - Team Holden showed us all how it could and should be done at Rockingham, albeit on a lesser budget for most I suspect. I hate to see racecars just parked up willy-nilly like it was at Mallory Park. When you are spending £500+ on a race weekend, it would be good to have TVR paddock to be proud of!
Let's not forget all the TVR owners who drive their pride and joy to support us at these meetings and don't really want to see a "gaggle at a bus-stop" in the paddock!

You don't necessarily need funding - just coordinated attention to detail in how you set up the TVR area in the paddock. If there are trucks with awnings, arrange them so that the fronts are all in line. The same with the guys with Easy Ups - I've seen photos of some TVR meetings where the Easy Ups are grouped together and it looks so much better than them being scattered about. If space allows, create a bit of a courtyard out of the TVR structures. Move the trailers and private cars out of sight. Get a few banners or flags - Dunlop will give you flags FoC. Keep it all tidy....
Its the little things that make the difference when you add them up - and they are primarily more about effort than money.
I put quite a lot of effort into our paddock set up because it means something to me. It doesn't make me any quicker on track (though the linen tablecloths and vases of flowers have got to worth a couple of tenths), and it means we spend longer packing up. But we do have a comfortable environment for family and friends, and that makes the effort worthwhile for me.
It also helps being OCD.....

I agree a lot of it will come down to attention to detail and cooperation by all concerned and this is something we can achieve wth zero or very little cost.Its the little things that make the difference when you add them up - and they are primarily more about effort than money.

I dont however agree that we can do this without cost and I think the drivers need to be aware of this. Your set up was excellent but I believe it is built around your racetruck and the awning, we dont have anything like that available currently to have a centralised area or point of focus for the series when in the paddock. There are many different ways we can do this, but it will need to be funded and organised, it really comes down to prioritisation of things in order of the impact they can have and this is something that will be discussed on Saturday. Rest assured guys, I have loads of ideas, a few offers on the table and maybe a few surprises.
