Inspired by a thread in the BMW forum, which modern cars do you think make best use of wood in the interior?

Having once discounted the concept of it at all (classics excluded) It seems like a lot of newer cars are better utilising it as a feature and there are a few where it's a much better choice. Extra points for uncommon variants of wood or structural use.

Lots of pictures please, feel free to post any other clever use of materials/finishes.

You have no thread title eek

Sorry for the useless post.

Edit: Might as well post my thoughts. I like the Range Rover's big slab of wood for the dash:

AFAIK it's real in the centre console. I don't mind the fakey plastic wood either, although I guess any interior is a luxury to me biggrin

+1 An excellent use of material there, shades of the Ikea chairs in my kitchen.

I used to quite like the bamboo you could get on the DB9, although now I see it again it does look a little bit like laminate flooring!

Generally I'm quite surprised that the default option for so many luxury cars is still wood and leather. With all the technological advances in other areas, interior materials still seem pretty conservative. Surely Alcantara has shown that synthetic materials and luxury aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.

The Maserati MC-12 at least tried something different by introducing Brightex but generally the list of commonly used interior materials seems pretty short:

Anything that's not German. They just make it look like shiny plastic, no matter how expensive the car is!

Thing is, we are humans and we naturally like natural looking, feeling and smelling things. Synthetics are good in theory but you can't beat the feel, aroma and looks of some proper timber and cow skin. It's just what we are smile

Agreed. Or American. Anyone looked inside anything from Chrysler? Woeful.

Something rather shiny and sticky seems to be all over your steering wheel. Surely its not THAT nice an interior? tongue out

Well, it's 'plastic wood' for a start, and the beige vulgaloure upholstery is pretty rancid too!

p.s. photo is not my actual daily snotter. mines much worse than that

Looks like it's been greased with KY jelly laugh

The wood in the Volvo XC60 is rather nice and Ikea-ish. Goes well with the light coloured leather and doesn't look fuddy-duddy (although it's not that different from the C30/S40/V50 dash referred to above):

Good effort. I like the simplicity of this interior. Shame about the Halfords special head unit though.

Similar to mine. Not a great lover of wood in cars but I've got used to this now and it's done well. My old M3 had it as standard and it looked totally gash. Worst one was the wife's old Lexus. vomit The Japanese really don't get it do they? They make it look more like plastic than plastic. Not sure the Germans have ever pulled it of successfully yet either.
