Once again the cold(ish) weather is here, and once again every time I get into my 156 V6 (2001) my windscreen is absolutely dripping in condensation. Its a real pain to clear! Non of the other windows seem to be affected.

Can someone help point me towards the cause please as its driving me mad?

Many thanks in advance!

Does it have a pollen filter for the air-con (presuming air-con is fitted)? If so, have you tried replacing it?

Not yet, and its long over due, but thats the kind of feedback I'm after.

Is this a known cause of the problem?

Do you have a sunroof? NS A-pillar sunroof drainage tube could be a problem.

If you have A/C then get it regased, in the damp weather its quite normal to have water inside on mst cars

I'd think pollen filter first: if so, hints'n'tips wise, the little torx screws that hold the plastic trim on are bhes! Make sure you get them all out, I missed one & ripped the plastic beyond repair. You might find the drain holes on the front scuttle are blocked, letting water into the filter.

It's Italian, it's supposed to leak at some point. One day you'll get in it & it will have mystically repaired itself.

common on the 166 - get it checked before it eats into your electrics. Blown relays, dodgy central locking and mass confusion could follow. Goodluck.

I had this last year, it was bad in the mornings and would almost immediately mist up without the A/C on (and even that could barely hold it at bay). Turned out one of the drain holes near the wipers had got clogged up with leaves and crud and the pollen filter was sopping wet. Also the entire ventilation system was hugely improved by removing the filter, shame the garage put a new one in at service time.

I used this guide:

Agree with MarkwG above, make sure you've removed all of the screws and DON'T try and force the trim off, or it'll snap and you're knackered.

I think I read somewhere about water in the underlay

If I remember where the story was Ill post it, or try google
the top carpets were ok, the problem was a leak underneath if I remember correctly.
