Discussion
Speak to Rowland at ACR.
Besides doing the majority of engines for off road racers, he does a lot of tuning on the 2 1/4 petrol and alway dispatching complete tuned up engines to the States and Europe.

I'll second that - fitted an ACR performance plus kit (cylinder head, inlet manifold, lumention) to what was a slow 7:1 compression ratio Series One, now it sounds like a rally car and has plenty of get-up and go. It will do an indicated 60mph on level road with 32" diameter tyres and the overdrive engaged, plenty for something with no seat belts and non-assisted drum brakes!

HP and performance is not these engines strong points. If you really want more poke look at either a V8 or Tdi conversion. Suspect it'll be cheaper and far more affective than anything you can do to the old 2.25 units.
