Car hit in works car park
Discussion
OK throwing this one over to the PH masses for some guidance
Arrive at work at 8.25 and find instead of the normal "choice" of spaces I was restricted to just one in the middle next to an Astra Coupe that had parked front into the space and on the white line rather than in the space - I was in the "littlest" car in the fleet so backed it into the space knowing that the driver of the Astra could get in on the other side where he had a rather large space due to slightly poor vehicle placement on his part.
Finished work at 5pm to find the passenger side mirror folded back against the door the wrong way, glass cracked and casing torn up from the body of the wing mirror. No car occupying the space beside the damage (I'd post pics but I figure most people know a broken wing mirror when they see one)
So I already have an idea who own the Astra Coupe and established that he was on early shift so left at around 2pm.
This means when I get to work tommorrow I'll get a chance to find the same car in the car park and check for matching damage then have a quiet word and offer him some options
Car park is covered by CCTV and the security guy is having a look at the footage tonight (mainly around the 1.45 to 2.15pm period as that's a very likely time the damage took place) and then for the rest of the afternoon - but the camera is on the undamaged side so I've asked for anything that indicates the driver or the Astra recognised that he'd damaged another car (getting out and having a look activity) It will at the very least confirm that no other cars parked in the space next to me between the Astra leaving and me finishing work.
Only thing I don't know is how the law applies to works car parks - last time my car got tapped in the work car park (15 years ago) the person responsible not only found me but offered to pay for the replacement indicator unit (which was the only damage) however I had a spare anyway.
Edited in a vain attempt to keep the grammar and spelling Nazis at bay
(Futile I know)

Never had any experience (on this scale) of this but perhaps when you can prove who it was, have a polite word about it and ask them to pay for the damage.
I have have a few car park dints put in my door at work. Realy anoying as they are down to what looks like white & the cars grey. Could see a bit of dk blue in it but cant prove who it was. Now im realy carefull about where I park.
Dad a few months ago scraped a car in his works car park, just on the bumper. He even left a little note with a phone number. Never heard a word about it since. The car aparantly had a few dings on it so perhaps they didnt notice it.
