Unless you're looking at a Peugeot 607 of course. Post 2005 there was one spec level (fully loaded) with 5 engines to choose from.

The only options were which engine, which gearbox and whether to have a sunroof or not. They were a brilliant idea, shame they' were built by the French.

Totty sensor and alarm system so I don't miss anything smart on a hot day

Automatic police-within-view speed limiter

Auto window blackout for getting a blowjob from highly attractive front seat passenger (only operates when stationary)

Auto barrier between front seats if personal contact attempted by unnatractive front seat passenger

Invisibility button

What I really hate is when they say "All the usual extras" followed by a huge list of items that are simply standard specification, and the car actually has no extras on it at all.

Another. On E30 M3 adverts (but I daresay any cult/iconic/drivers cars get it as well) you get people reciting the journlistic bks from Autocar or wherever. Or you get people listing results that the competition car had. I don't give a feck about Lancia winning the WRC with the Integrale, this Evo2 I'm looking at hasn't even been up a kerb!

i would never write anything like that. i list all the spec of the car and let the buyer decide if they think its fully specced or not.

i recently bought a car that was described as in "showroom condition" so i expected a few scuffs, and some swirlmarks. i never saw the car before i bought it and when it arrived it was in exactly in "showroom condition". no marks at all. don't judge a book by its cover and all that...

Like the autotrader spec lists 10 lines long including lumbar adjustment, Steering wheel reach adjustment, Steering wheel rake adjustment, Space saver spare wheel, Rear wiper, Isofix child seat anchor points, Front head restraints, Drivers airbag, Body coloured bumpers, Immobiliser, Radio/Cassette, etc on a 2003 3-series?

Well mine was advertised as having a massive spec - and did.

It had every box ticked except a/c seats, Distronic and Linguatronic.

So the ads are not always wrong.

The last I bought was a 3yo 159, described as being "in the condition shown on the pictures". Very very modest, the pictures looked great (parked up somewhere and took over 10 pictures).

When I came to see the car I've never seen a 3yo car that looked that mint. I bought it right away. It also had a couple of options that weren't mentioned (bigger wheels and the like,...)

I don't know, but I don't think stating "showroom condition" would have put me off from going to have a look, and it wouldn't have been a lie.

So basicly they can type anything they want as long as:
1) IT'S TRUE
2) it's in proper English
3) it's relevant (I don't care that that the previous model won the 2002 car of the year award in Africa)
