Long-term Stradale ownership
Discussion
Having spent the last 10 years buying a different car every six months I've decided that I'd like to stop selling and start my own little 'collection' of cars that really float my boat and that are pretty much guaranteed not to loose money. Does anybody have any idea what the long-term valuation of a Challenge Stradale would be? I'm talking 5 or 10 years down the road? Will a £100k car such as this one - http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2118031.htm - loose much more money or is it a definite classic in the making? I'm not looking to make money, just invest wisely. Also got one eye on a 993RS...

Can't speak about the cs but you're getting into the 993rs at the top of the market so far.
As to their values they appear to be closely linked to the £/euro fx market, when it went pretty much 1:1 their prices soared. IMO if the fx rates move again there will be some adjustment.
Btw have you driven one before? I only ask as they're a world away from your current pork.
Crackng cars all the same.

A good CS like the one you have in mind there i think is at it's peak price now, do i think they will go up much in value? difficult to say, over 100 were sold in the U.K so there is plenty there but they dont come up for sale that often as owners do seem to love them. In the near future i cant see a mint CS fetching more than 110k but in the next 40 years, then yeah most probably as there will obviously be not as many around.
Regarding the 993 RS, lovely motor but dont know that much about them to be honest, they are a rare breed and are considered a superb car with a great raw driving experience, just make sure you get a Speed Yellow one
Overall i think both will one day become very sought after as the 993 RS is a truly great car and the 360 CS is regarded and respected as one of the true great Ferrari's with a spine tingling sound track.
Good luck with your search, that CS at Tom Hartley i think is the best one out there as it looks in faultless condition and is from a highly respected supercar dealer.

CS values are always on the verge of slipping I think. They always seem to sell no matter if they are high or low mileage etc. I think the F40, F50 and Enzo like price swings are unlkley due to the CS being available in RHD so at least the UK ones will always be a little less value perhaps?
Id become involved in a motoring magazine like EVO and then plug your cars no mater what they are to death! Seems to have worked for a high mileage ex press Zonda for Mr Metcalf!
Personally Id spend the money on an RS500 Sierra, RS200, E30 M3 Evo III Sport and a 996 GT3 RS. The 996 GT3 rs is an interesting one as they came out the same time as the CS were about 50k cheaper and mile for mile have lost about 10k for every 10k miles where a CS has lost 30k if you see what I mean. identical performance on the top gear track too.

Tom Hartleys CS has non standard parking sensors fitted IMHO that devalues this one. I think this was the car used by Evo or Autcar recently G4RED I may be wrong!DMC2 said:

Nobody knows, its a lottery. Depends on the economy, the value of Scuderias, etc etc etc.Cheers

All i can say, is that i have had two ... loved them both and recommend that anyone who is fortunate enough to be in a position to afford (and maintain) one of these really should do.

My own views are that RS200s were/are a niche car, never really taken off in value and I think the RS500 will reach a level, if it hasn't already. The pick of that bunch is the 996 GT3RS but at £60k, is it likely to really shoot up in value much more? As others said, the 993RS is all its money, as is the 964RS. In truth, if you want to buy as an investment, you should look for an lhd version; clearly more appealing in the global market.
Is a CS likely to see its value eroded by the 430 Scuderia? Is the 996 GT3RS likely to see its value eroded by the 997 GT3RS?....there's always a new performance version of a supercar out there after all....

Still to have a shot of a 996 gt3rs, cant remember the last time I saw one. In fact ive seen more CS that 996 GT3 RS in general. This is making me think........
Have you driven one? If not, go and drive one and you'll be smitten. Sublime car and nearly as nimble as a 964RS.Hi,
About the CS at Tom Hartlys the car belonged to me for 3 years with the reg number G4RED which i still own if buyer buys the car from Tom Hartly the number can be bought from me at a good price.
A person on this site in reply to your topic said the CS had no standard reverse sensors very untrue they were factory fit option on this car , the CS is a March 05 and is on a 05 number plate , I know all the history on the car even the milage on the car when i bought it over 3 years ago if you need to know anything about this car you can contact me anytime, in the 3 years i owned the car it had serviced and never gave me any problems just a new battery which i purchased in error as it was the tracker draining the battery which was replaced by tracker in May of this year i know just what the brake wear and clutch ware read out was back in March of this year after a full service.

Hi
No its not the only one there is a 05 black CS with them on first reg April 05 mine was a March 05 these were the very last CS to come out of the Factory, I now have a Porsche GT3 RS gen 11 from Tom Hartlys in the Grey with black wheels which looks so different to the grey with Red wheels and all them over the top decals
It is different drive and is just as quick but on the upside costs less to service every 2 years or 12,500 miles so in my case every 2 years and it can be used every day driving (which i won't be doing) and draws less attension when being parked, Don't get me wrong the CS was just a fantastic car but after 3 years i felt like a change only time will tell if i have made a mistake , as for this topic will the CS hold its value yes i am sure they will for a good one with low miles and its Red in colour or Black with full service history
regards
