Right. Undaunted by the diasater of the BoB Airshow, the first-born and I will set off on the 2 hour journey to Duxford again on Sunday, with luck, we'll get in this time!

Hopefully the boy will enjoy it as much, if not more than he apparently did last time when sitting in the car for 7 hours and not seeing a single aircraft (but several tractors).

Just got back from this today and really enjoyed it, a nice variety of aircraft and especially enjoyed the RNHF's Swordfish turning up. Especially as i was shown around it in August with its engine in bits in different parts of the country! It was also decently busy but without the massive ques to get in like most shows earlier in the season. The weather was fantastic and seeing the Apache up close was amazing! It has been booked out of most of the summer shows buy the Taliban according to the commentator!

I went too: as you say it was a perfect day weather wise, not too crowded, great variety of aircraft old and new, and a very relaxed atmosphere. Drove stright into the car park at about 10:30, through the ticket booths and in. Perfect airshow!

Still gutted about the BoB airshow debacle, but this went a long way to making up for it. Still can't get over the absolutely perfect weather, especially considering Saturday and today! I'll try to post a few pics later.

The weather was fantastic, and it was great to see the F86 Sabre. smile

A pity the Pitts weren't in period Rothmans Aerobatic Team display livery though; now that would have been something!

Probably not allowed these days.

Memories of the great Manx Kelly.

It was billed as some kind of Rothmans display team tribute. Don't think I ever saw the Rothmans display team, but I do remember to Marlboro team at the BGP in about 1979/81, and thinking they were even better than the Red Arrows (which also displayed).

I imagine the organizers would have palpitations if both Rothmans and Marlboro-liveried aircraft took to the air!

Just think of the Daily Mail headlines the following day wink

They'll have to paint 'Breitling' on the side then. As far as I know they haven't banned watches yet.

Although I suppose you could choke to death on one.
