Fellow M5 owners, cleaned the car up yesterday and drove it in to work today, still mega pleased with it but couple of questions:

1. What tyre pressures do you have in yours?
2. I understand they are prone to rust around rear/front windscreen and passanger door windows anything you do to prevent this? Mine won't be moving in any ste weather so stood still on drive.
3. What oil do you use?
4. Any other good measures you use for winter storage/lack of use? I have WD40d door frames and wheel nuts as well.

Want to keep her mint.

Can't comment on the rust aspect around the windows but protecting the filler cap area is a must, bad design allows water to collect there, as you've probably noticed, and the seam will rust over time.
Have you considered investing in a car cover, if not kept inside this would go along way from protecting it from the elements, but not cheap if you want a tailor made one obviously.
As for tyre pressure, been a while since i checked, i think mine is in the region of 35/37 psi but can't remember off the top of my head.
I'll be using mine all winter and have just bought a set of sport style 66 rims, just need to source some good winter tyres and she'll be sorted. I clean the car regularly and give it a good coat of collonite wax, hopefully that'll keep the dirt off and seal it till early next year till it gets a good full detail again.

Edited, forgot to add the oil I use is TWS(10w60) castrol stuff, the reccomended one for the engine from BMW, I've seen some other people in the states and on the M5 baord use different brand but of the same grade. Car is a facelift model just for reference.

Mine has some bubbling in the filler cap already and some on one of the rear wings where is meets the bumper, I just keep it well waxed. I have already had one rust spot attended to on the front wheel arch.

I use the pressures as in the manual and use 10W60. I have been buying mine here, there seem th cheapest at the moment

If you can keep the car inside do, if not do drive it when the weather is fine, even if not sunny. Just warm the engine and drive a few miles. Nothing beats a couple of coats of Collinite wax and have a few decent drying towels to keep the car dry if kept outside and not used often. Otherwise keep it washed and clean throughtout the winter months.
