Garage space converted
Discussion
Well after the news of another child on the way I went about converting half of the unused garage into an office/workspace. The other half remains a good sized storage area for garden stuff, tools, etc.
Don't plan to use it too much only when I work from home once a week but it should give me a bit of restbite from the kids (and wife) every now and again.
I went from this 4 weeks ago:-

To this:-

Still got lots of things to move in files, pictures etc but I'm pretty happy so far. As the garage wasn't wide enough to fit a car in I don't feel like it's a waste and it's only a partition wall away from converting it back to a normal garage should future buyers wish.

Just off out but a brief history:-
First off stud work for roof and wall. Partition wall then built allowing door space, cavitys filled with 75mm Rockwool thermal insulation. Electrician then came to setup new route for room including wall banks of wall sockets and allowing electrics for 4 downlighters.
Walls boarded with tapered edge boards and skirting boards attached and doors fitted, then floor levelled with DPM. Plastered tapered joints and over plasterboard screws, then fully sanded over plastered areas.
2 coats of 1/4 PVA over all boards, skirting glossed then 2 coats of 1 coat Dulux Matt Finish White! Electrician back to fit downlighters to pre setup wiring and then finally doors stained with Ronseal internal wood stain.
Total cost excluded equipment (TV/Desk,etc) £1310, and a sore back.
