Hello / Ultima builders or owners in Scotland?
Discussion
Hello,
Thought I would introduce myself and let you all know that after a factory visit last week I have made my initial GTR order. I have ordered stages 1 thru 5, 7 & 14, full roll kit, alloy double skin kit, braided stainless steel clutch pipe and fittings, and battery cables. I anticipate delivery mid December.
I have read most (if not all) the posts on this forum in the run up to placing my order and have found the information invaluable - thanks.
I live near Aberdeen and was wondering if there are any Ultima builders or owners in my neck of the woods? I've certainly never seen an Ultima around here.
I'm currently researching/gathering necessary tools together and looking into getting a chassis dolly built...
Roll on December!
Tom

Hi Tom
There are two Ultima guys north of the border that I know of. 'The Vet' had a Black GTR that he used on track a fair bit. Not sure he still has the car though. There is another guy over at Greenock who is about to become an owner. He is not a regular on here though. There must be one or two others!!! Maybe ask Richard at the factory?
Also YHM.

Hi Tom,
I'm not that close as I live in Bathgate (20 mins after Forth Rd Bridge ). I've just started a Can Am and i am only just ahead of you as i have just finished the interior panelling and am now awaiting delivery of the next stages (wiring loom, radiator, brake lines and steering column etc.)
You are more than welcome to pop down and have a look and blether about all things Ultima if you like as I'm sure you can't wait till December. Also, If you want a hand with a dolly and you can transport it back from mine, I'd be more than happy to help as I have all the welding gear and it can be put together in a couple of hours max.
Cheers for now,
Pete

Paul & Pete,
Thanks for the posts. When Ted gave me the factory tour he mentioned that he thought there were maybe 20 Ultimas in Scotland. As the build progresses, hopefully I'll meet some of the owners.
Thanks for the offer of help with the build dolly Pete. I have lined up a friend at my work who can weld me a dolly. He is a kit builder too (Cobra) so keen as well. I'll certainly give you a shout if I'm going to be near Bathgate.
Cheers,
Tom

After reading a lot of threads on here, i have come to the conclusion that it has to be an LS power plant.
For me, I'm going for the LS3 and initially i had planned to go for the 480bhp version but again after reading some horror stories about hot cam and ecu compatability problems, i think it would be better to go for the standard LS3 and then when the car is registered and running i'm then going to look at upping the power to the around the 500 mark.
I'm just trying to decide on the aircon option, it's a no brainer with the GTR but with my Can Am i'm just not sure... in fact i think i'm going to start a thread on it to try and help.
