Hi

Trying to find out about any firms/people that are worth using rather than my expensive local Mazda dealer

I've had a play with the search tool, and browsed the relevant Wiki, but there seems to be a dearth of references to MX5 specialists in my part of the world ...

Any pointers gratefully received!

Cheers, Dave

It does sound a bit like there is a gap in the market - are there many people based around here?

Not sure, but havn't T R Lane (just south of Stroud) just started to do servicing?

When Tim fitted my roll bar he also mentioned one of his friends (Neil?) who was Alonso's engineer and does car set up. Pretty sure they were looking to do mx5 related things together?

MX5s don't really need 'specialists' do they? All they need is a bit of oil every 12 months and jobs a good 'un. Maybe the rocker gasket but any decent local garage could do that in their sleep.

I'm capable to doing 90% of jobs on my car and I'm no great shakes with a spanner so I agree with HR. Better to find a local independent garage who you know and trust than a specialist will will likely charge you more for the privilege wink

Whats the going rate for an independent garage these days? TR Lane are quoting £38/hour and Neil Garner (Alonso mechanic) is £58/hour. I haven't used an independent garage for a long, long time - so have no reference points

Fair point about general servicing - can anyone offer up any likely suspects in my area for trustworthy independents?

5 Stokes in Stoke Gifford. Completely trustworthy.
