WTF?? confused

A forced induction 1.4, so by any other racing regs would have at least a 1.7 multiplier added as it's effective displacement is evidently a lot larger than it's physical displacement.

I can't quite fathom the point of the records? They seem rather worthless to me. confused

Multipliers are 1.4 or 1.5 to the best of my knowledge.
Still makes it only 2.1l.

I've seen 1.7 although I may be thinking of rotaty's.

Either way, my point, unless I misunderstood the article. Was that a forced induction 1.4, is not really a 1.4 litre engine. So gaining any records for a 1.4 litre powered car is somewhat pointless. And to be endorsed by the MSA also... cry

Rotaries are a 1.7 multiplier. Forced induction is 1.4 or 1.5 depending on regulations. I think it's 1.5 in National Saloons, for example- and if my memory serves me right its 1.4 in VW Cup.

Depends which way you look at it really. The actual displacement of the engine is 1399 or whatever cc- the fact that more air can be forced into each of those cc's of displacement than would otherwise be atainable from atmospheric air conditions is a moot point- the engine still displaces 1.4l.

The motorsport multiplier isn't about displacement, its about placing cars in catagories with other vehicles that have similar performance outputs. Using a displacement multiplier is the most sensible way of making sure the 2.0 Turbo S14s and the like have to run with the 3.0l N/A BMWs which are a much closer competitor in terms of power output than the 2.0 N/A cars.

I thought he did ok, not something he has had much chance of doing recently...talking that is!

His genuine 'whoops' when giving the dragster the beans made me chuckle...
