A friend of mine would like to go to Canada for a few months to visit her parents.

Will she be able to go without having a return ticket to show when she gets to customs? She has no set date to return, so would like a one-way ticket and get the return when she's there. I've been there three times in the last few years and have yet to be asked to produce a return ticket. Is there a requirement to have a return ticket, in case some jobsworth is on the customs desk when she gets there?

She has dual Polish/British citizenship, her mother has Polish/Canadian citizenship and her step-father has dual British/Canadian nationalities. Just in case any of that is relevant.

I can see difficulties for your friend without a return ticket. Particularly if she has ties to canada, there will be significant suspicion that she is not planning to leave canada.

TBH the cost differential between a one way or return ticket is not likely to be much - in fact the return may be cheaper!

When i returned from 2 years in canada last year it was cheaper to come back on the Queen Mary than it was to fly from Winnipeg!

As per above, a flexible return might well be cheaper than 2 singles!

Thanks for that. I probably knew that already, hence the question. I'll let her know.
