Speedo sensor bracket removal

Hi people ive just got my new sensor off Mr Heath so im gonna have to remove the old one with the bracket above the diff.
From the looks of it i will have to remove the exhaust to get at the allen diff bolts holding the bracket on.
Am i right to do this or is there an easier way?

I believe there a couple of version of brackets. Mine was a bracket bolted to the diff with the diff mounting brackets.

The one that SH supplies is designed to bolt into the top of the diff and depending on your diff there may not be mounting holes on top of your diff to secure it.

I spoke to Steve and he advised leaving that in place and reusing it with his sensor.

However the SH sensor is much narrower than the standard one so I had to use a couple of large penny washers to stop it falling through the hole. I found that the only way I could manage to fit it (only having one pair of hands) was to put the bolts on and the washer that was to sit on top of the bracket. The lower washer I cut a slot in so I could slide it in once the sensor was dropped in from the top.

Yeah mine uses the diff bracket too,its just such a bugger to get at from any angle.

guess im gonna have to take the exhaust off tommorow cant wait lol...

Yes I had to drop the exhaust to get to it.

You may also need to drop the propshaft if it's the one I think it is. It's a fair old fiddle to find the wiring connector and with the propshaft off the trigger (crown) wheel comes off to give better access.
