Going to look at a Tuscan - advice needed!

I am potentially going to look at a Tuscan. It is a bit of a trek so I thought I would ask opinions first.
The car has low mileage, around 26k, no rebuild and on original clutch. Although I'm told it has TVR history, the last service was 18 mths ago & it has only done 3k since. Would I potentially be buying trouble. My concern is that if they have skimped on servicing, are there other things that haven't been done? I realise that it may need a clutch in the near future so would have to factor that in.

I've just paid about 1300 for clutch and slave cylinder.
My Mk1 needed a rebuild after 35k and again at 70k.
My Mk2 is now on 42k without rebuild.
As with all cars, check all electric works.
Apart from the 70k rebuild I had a lot of electrics to pay for.
There are one or two things like widow controllers that can go wrong but if sorted straight away, stops big bills coming in. In my case there was a lot wrong.
At 26k it doesnt sound like its been run into the ground does it.
If its been garaged for 18 months and hardly used then I wouldnt describe that as skimping on servicing.
You will get a good idea of how well its been looked after when you get there.

nice colour combo, with regards to the rest, clutch may well need doing soon, peddle should be quite light (they start to get heavy with age) and the rebuild thing is obviously an issue also as engine parts only got really good from 2005, we have had a great summer and i would have expected the car to have covered more than 3k in 18 mths.
i only do about 5k per year in mine but have it serviced every 12mths regardless of use. one that has been used regularly would be a better buy as they dont really like being garage queens, but as already said you need to at least go see it, good luck with the search.

Hi Andy, I know of at least 3 MK1 Tuscans with over 60,000 miles on them with no rebuilds so I suppose its a bit of a lottery. My MK2 Tussy has 36,000 miles on the clock and on the original clutch and is as good as new. Probably not much help at putting your mind at rest but I suspect I am on borrowed time with the clutch.

Thanks for the advice. Haven't heard from the seller for this one so suspect it may have sold. He had someone looking at it for a 2nd time today.
Yes NTEL, I'll be at Oulton Park, can't wait for it. T v R guys have been very helpful already. I called in a few weeks back when I was passing. Intend for them to look after it when I find one.

Just bought a Tuscan
First download the checklist from mytuscan
rebuild or no rebuild is a gamble. I went for rebuild with warranty for piece of mind.
same with the clutch
Check all of the electrics, twice! And then again especially anything connected via the dash pod eg lights etc as this can get expensive to fix.
Make sure you have at least 2 keys (getting more is a hassle and programming them to the alarm is also a hassle)
Most niggles are small ish cost in themselves but can be a hassle so try and find a car with as few niggles as possible.
