In the spirit of which washing machine and dishwasher, any recommendations for a good dryer? Are bosch and miele the best in the dryer world?

My family have always had Miele appliances. My mums drier is around 15 years old now and (touch wood) has never had anything go wrong with it.

yes but the name has long been swollowed up by indesh*t. lucky if you get 9 months out of them now.
Bosch do not make a vented drier, they are sourced from Slovakia make Gorenje, Miele have usual cost related problems, ie cost of parts when they do fail usually see them scrapped anyway after more than 5 years.
remember you have either vented or condenser driers. Condenser driers are more complex with more to go wrong and need the condenser cleaned regularly, like monthly, if not you will get trouble, while vented driers need the vent to be kept clean, often they vent through a wall with some kind of flap or grill on the outside which is generaly ignored by the user until it is too late.
what one to recomend? Miele (subject to the above) and ISE 10, currently between models but when the new one comes out in Novmeber it will be good. Cheaper option would probably be something from Electolux. (that incudes Zanussi/ T bendix and AEG)

Cheers!

Will probably consider Miele and their equivalents as i'd prefer something to last a long time to save the hassle of replacements.

I've never heard of the ISE brand - did a google search and they claim to be 'bulletproof' - anyone here got one of these and comment on these vs Miele and other brands?

Just scrapped a 3-4 year old Siemens condenser tumble dryer - motor gone! Also recently had to replace the 4-5 year old Bosch washing machine - was making funny noise, then stopped spinning.

Replaced both of them with John Lewis appliances - obviously only time will tell, but they were half the price of the Bosch/Siemens appliances *and* come with a 3 year warranty as standard.

I wouldn't buy from the Bosch group again, we have had countless problems with the Siemens ovens too. I would buy whatever comes with the longest warranty for the cheapest price smile

Looking at the pics it looks like they've rebranded the scandinavian brand ASKO which are excellent. I'd say better than miele. The only reason we didn't buy another asko was that they seemed to have pulled out of the uk domestic market.
