Worried about getting stuck in winter - Heres the solution!

For those who don't already have a Land-Rover with a Winch etc, but have a normal 2wd saloon and are concerned they need to make a trip in the snow, I give you the answer!

(And Yes I am just a little bit mad!)






Hopefully I will never need to use it with the winter tyres the car will have soon, but I am planning a trip to Scotland this year between Xmas and New Year so thought it best to be safe rather than sorry!

Its dangerous tidying the garage, you find a winch, you have a mad idea, before you know it you have unbolted the front bumper....

Still got to wire it in to a couple of subtle buttons and put some winch cable runners inside the bumper but I have a month or two before the snow....

Its only a cheap winch, originally on a car trailer, but its pulled some big stuff onto the trailer, including a Range Rover, 30degree slope.

Should be fine for dragging me up icy slopes with the car powering with its wheels too!

No, its bolted with a 6mm steel plate to the chassis rail, and will have a steel guide to get it out past the bumper when complete, also only used carefully!!!

But as ever in the off road world (or in your case the mostly on road but slippy world...) is having a winch is one thing, having anything solid enough to attach it too another.......



(i've spent many a happy hr winching large apparently immovable objects towards my stuck LR, rather than moving my LR towards the large apparently immovable object )

Hoping there will be trees or road signs, but I am familiar with this issue, usually the tree is 6" from the furthest reach of the winch+towrope!!!

Eh you do realise that we have real roads up here, some are actually maintained by a group of people called, "The Cooncil"

Remember to change your currency at Gretna, and bring your passport as well

Seriously though, it is a tad unlikely you will need that unless you put yourself in the position deliberately.

Last year we went to the moors and we were struggling a bit here and there, planning on heading to ben nevis, between xmas and new year, so I'd rather not rely on the cooncil!
