Peugeot 309 GRD. Speedo goes to a claimed 140, and has a redline of 4.75k RPM. In 5th gear at 0.8 leptons, you'll be doing 4k RPM

1.1 litre Mk3 Ford Escorts had speedometer markings to 140mph.

Doubt if they could crack more than 90.

Alright clever clogs, that may be true. But in that case it makes it pessimistic!

(Or possibly it makes it exactly where the Japanese-in-their-wisdom put the speed limiter.....112mph)

This, my Fiesta 1.1 has the same 140mph speedo. Claimed top speed is 88 (We barely managed 80 laugh)

320mph - Nismo clocks in my R33 GTR.

They did read KPH once upon a time.

I remember as a kid seeing my dad's speedo momentarily indicate 120mph while he was reversing...

If it's a UK imported car it won't be as its illegal to run a KPH-only speedo on a UK registered car. Doesn't it say MPH on it anyway?

It may be illegal, but it's not uncommon. I knew a few people with imports that have only KPH.

I can take my needle out of the range, beyond the last number, of the speedo and round to the bumpstop . . .

On the older cars, it's not hard to get it to read MPH anyway. Just change the speedo cable.

Anyone else agree that labelling a rev counter 10, 20, 30, 40 x 100 is stupid and 1, 2, 3, 4 x 1000 is much better?
