Bought car: Not as advertised.
Discussion
I picked up a car today and paid the final balance. An expensive car, £35K, I was looking for four certain optional extras on the car, this one when advertised on the BMW AUC site had them all. I have found out after getting home tonight it does not have one of the options.
I know it was advertised as having it as I shortlisted a few and took a month to find it.
As the advert is down now I can no longer bring it up, and it seems firefox does not cache old files, just tries to open up the page again.
This optional extra is important to me and I wouldn't have entertained the car knowing it didn't have it. Perhaps I shouldn't have trusted them and checked, but I did.
What can I do about this?

Without wanting to sound like an arse - if it was so important did you not notice it was missing on the test drive/inspection? Can we ask what the extra was?
I think the first port of call is to phone the dealer, tell them the situation, and ask what they're going to do about it - I'm sure some mutual agreement can be found *if* the car wasn't as advertised. If it was recently, I'm sure it'll still be in their system.

It is my second car of this type. Didn't warrant a test drive, 3 yrs old. When I first went to see it the battery was flat. It has a good options list and this optional extra most have. It was advertised as such, so I took it at face value.I know, stupid me.
Parking sensors but you're embarressed to admit it?
Seriously though, it may have been a mistake in the advert. Doesn't matter how expensive, or cheap, a test drive and good look around are essential. Especially so if there is a feature of the car that you must have.
Good luck sorting it out.

I know, I could kick myself. I call them tomorrow and ask for a copy of the advert.
Try this, you may never know.http://www.archive.org/
Did anybody click this link and has a cached file? http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
A bit of a long shot, but has anybody been looking through the BMW AUC and has a cached history? It was pulled on the 20/09
Cheers

I had a situation like this a few years ago in which i paid a £500 deposit but cancelled the car as an option was missing.
The advert stated the car had xenon lights but it didnt and when i cancelled the dealer refused so i went to the credit card company to reclaim the payment. They agreed as the advert was misleading and breached some 'sale of goods act', so they cancelled the payment to the dealer.

a bmw AUK car should have a 30 day hand back period on it if you are unhappy with it. Just tell them it doesn't suit and give it back. Either that or it might be a extra that the dealer could retro fit quite easily, like cruise control etc.
