Hi All.

My 2004 SMG is sitting on 57k (owned since 19k back in 2007). I really love it but have posted previous threads about possible alternatives (Focus RS was one). What was driving my questions was the warranty coming to an end. Here's why:

I have been relatively happy to keep adding the 12 month warranty extension for about £800 PA (£100 xs version) since it gives total peace of mind and included the fantastic BMW emergency service. I travel about Europe a fair bit and its an essential. The problem is after 60k miles the cost of the extended policy hits closer to £2k per year, which is too much, so my next renewall will be the last. Funds won't stretch to E92 so my M days would be over...

I have recently seen a few posts on various forums including here, about a monthly version of the warranty, which, if applied below 60k miles can then be maintained right up to 100k miles with no big jump in premium. It is slightly more expensive than the annual policy, but no where near the 2k applied to higher mileage cars.

I wonder if I could ask anyone who has done this, and claimed once the car is over 60k and can confirm that; even though the network has the milage information, knows the car is now over 60k the premiums remain the same?

Surely this monthly policy is too good to be true? Thought I'd give this question its own thread...

If folk have found that M Power can be warranted up to 100k for a sensible price I'll keep my old friend for several more years.... Maybe a late E92 around 2014 could be possible then!

I believe a guy on here (M5 Mark) has an M5 with 90k miles on it and it's still covered by BMW warranty as he pays montly. Maybe send him a message or he might see this and reply. Good luck.

Yup, on 98k today smile It is NOT mileage limited. I still don;t understand it, but there is NO mileage limit on it. This is what the dealer tells me and what Mondial tells me. It was in for new starter motor 2 weeks ago, I asked the same question I ask everytime I talk to Mondial, "is there really no mileage limit?" The answer came back, nope, no limit on mileage. Guess they don't expect people with V10 M5s to put the petrol in to do 100k...... HAS to be before 60k, HAVE to have owned the car for at least 1 month, HAS to have full service history, it is NOT transferable. Modded parts not covered obviously, headers, brakes etc

This is looking very promising then smile Shame its not transferable but actually it sort of rewards the enthusiast who wants to run the car....

I have the £100 xs comprehensive annual policy at present, so I'd like the equivalent monthly version. I have to keep her below 60k 'till renewal, which is ok since winter is near to hand.

I did hear that there are exclusions above 60k (wear and tear). The annual version excludes most suspension stuff beyond 60k. What's the score on the monthly version re: exclusions?
