Cutlery Set - Where to buy/what brand?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a cutlery canteen set for my brother and his new wife. Looking for 60ish pieces, silver plated, Kings design. Does anybody have any suggestions on which brand to buy? Looking for good value rather than just a brand name. So to rephrase, who makes the cheapest, but good quality cutlery? Four figures on cutlery seems a joke to me, I eat with plastic ones at work, they get the job done.

I'd be looking at John Lewis for a canteen in a presentation case; if that's too rich for your blood, then Nisbets is a good place to start.

I got mine at Notting Hill Antique market.
6 person, silver plated kings pattern. In a presentation box.

Didn't cost that much and makes dinner SO much nicer.

John Lewis do some nice contemporary sets and often have sales. A decent cutlery set really makes a difference when eating, I must admit. Especially after 3 years of using the sharp, rusty battle axes the in laws got us.

Dunno about silver plated king's design, but we've got a set of SS Oneida cutlery which is very pleasant to eat with. I think the pattern is called "Roman".

Mine is "Harley" not my choice, was gifted to me when my parents divorsed as neither of them wanted it.

Highly recommend anything by Arthur Price - good quality long-lasting cutlery and pretty affordable. Available from a variety of retailers - google it to see.

We bought a full dining set for 8 in the Oneida outlet store in York for around £70. Im very impressed with it.

Bloody hell! I hadn't realised that solid silver cutlery cost anything like this.

Our "good" set is solid and came from a shop in Phuket. At these prices it would be worth the plane ticket just to go and collect another set!

If you can wait, try the sales at Selfridges, Harrods etc.
They have some incredible discounts available.
