Head out towards South Woodham Ferrers and get lost in the country lanes but mind the motorbikes .

Just a bit of a pointless update!

Headed out that way like you said and it seemed like the right area! Saw quite a few ph cars! So it seems I was in the right sort of area! (impreza, westfield, m3, r26r, vantage etc)

I passed the r26r a few times going opposite ways...

Still not sure I know the 'golden' roads but it was a great start!

Only bad part of the day was my midsection dropped redface so I had to yank it off and put it in the back of the car once it cooled down.. Car sounded absolutely mental after that! Just after I pulled back onto the road I think a honda crx was interested by the noise i was creating hehe Was getting pops and bangs on the way back hehe I dont think some people knew what hit them when I suddenly shifted past them. The noise actually hurt my ears with just the sunroof open

Low revs it seemed to sound like a tractor and the exhaust seemed to resonate the entire car (..even more than usual) hehe

If you get to go that way again, from South Woodham Ferrers head for Burnham-on-Crouch - there are some great bends between Althorne and Burnham.

I used to live in Billericay, and when I had the 328i and the Cooper S I used to do regular Sunday hoons in this area. The twisties to Burnham are excellent, but try heading to Bradwell on Sea. Feels wrong out there - like there's some inbreeding going on(hehe), but the road up is a great drive. Fast, bumpy, twisty, some good slow corners. The 328i was far quicker than the Mini through that section.

When you reach Bradwell, head toward St Lawrence and Maylandesea - I saw some PHers in Tivvers down that way. Sunday morning is best. Also expect the local Church representatives in their Xsara Picasso redface, doing 37mph.

You can head back to SWF that way - if you fancy it there's Hanningfield beyond that...

This.

I used to live near to Hanningfield resevoir and unless you fancy doing laps of the perimeter road it's not that great. The road up to Bradwell on Sea from Southminster, however, is superb.

Just watch for a fine film of dust on the surface! I don't know if it's sand blowing in from the coast or something, but that road often seems a little bit slippery.

thanks for the replies! I'll check it out smile

I'm really looking for roads with great visibility of what's up ahead, nothing worse than a brilliant corner which you cant take at speed because there's no visibility of what's round it!

As Chris says do watch the surface, hence one of the reasons the Mini was pretty rubbish up there, zero traction, especially with those run flats... It's more suited to a RWD car IMHO.
