Good afternoon all, I have a very nice 88 944S and an old shed of an LHD Lux, which I am going to use as a track day blaster. Hurrah!
I am looking for a bolt in roll cage, buckets and harnesses, in addition to advice on the braided hoses and dot 5 fluid route or not. The car stops well and straight but may be a different story when things heat up.
Are any of you guys selling the above plus larger grooved discs?
Looking for usable but not perfect condition, London/ Herts ideally.
As an aside, I can thoroughly recommend Porsch Apart for helpful service (no I don't work there) and upgarding your oval dash 944 to 17" 968 alloys -transforms the handling and in particular, roadholding (Michelin Pilots)

My 89 Turbo with 16" CS wheels rund 36 psi all round. It feels a lot more "planted" then my old 87 S.

(PS if you're doing track days, a bit of fiddling with tyre pressures between rune will make you feel "on the ball...!!!")

Tried running 35 psi on track. As well as spinning into a Rockingham gravel trap ! I found that once back in the pits the rears had overheated there way up to over 40 psi, an that was in damp cold conditions.
My be this was a problem caused by the very flexi side walls on the 215/60 R15's that the car used to run on.
In my experience I wouldnt run much more than 30 psi on track, front or rear. But with differing conditions, types of tyre etc its probably best to go with what feels right, rather than stick to any hard and fast rules.
BTW I'm running on 215/50 R15's which means my speedo over reads quite a bit !

I can recommend speedy cables to recalibrate your speedo. I got them to recalibrate my Smiths speedo on my old Cobra, very accurate and they refurbished the mechanism as well. They were in London but I think they've moved to Hertford.

For track use you need to measure your tyre pressure when HOT just after you come in from a session. I was advised by a Porsche Cup 944 racer to set road tyres to around 36 psi HOT
This will ensure a full contact patch, more grip, and less wear. If you leave the tyres at your road pressure they will heat up incredibly and the pressures will go up over 10psi. This will cause much wear in the centre of the tyre as it balloons, and things will get a bit slippery

Hi all, just been to Oulton park, and the car was fantastic. Ran faultlessly and was mighty under braking and over the kerbs.
However! at 6000 rpm the oil pressure dipped to 3 (I checked this when I was passenger I hasten to add!)and it's usually 5 at 2000rpm. The car's running 10/40 Magnatec (also used in my 88 944S) , which presumably got way too hot, and is a standard 1985 8Valver.
No oil was lost, but I presume I need an oil which works better at high temperatures. Sounds like I need an oil cooler, but can anyone recommend a better 'competition' oil?

Mine sometimes drops below 4bar when really hot on track in the summer months, Were you doing really long stints?. Mobil do a motorsport version of Mobil1 rated at 15w50 which 'may' help things, but first thing to check are did you have enough oil in the car, and is the oil pump working ok.
