So, a reliable friend pointed out that Moody's in Nantwich had 2 of these (one black and one white face) available!
Turns out, that following a raid, they got new stock from Rolex and the chucked a couple of extra Daytona's in.
Sent my wife in, was going to trade up the Sub Date to get a price and drop a deposit. She ended up walking out after being treat like something the snotty woman who was working there had just stepped in.
Now, I know there is a demand for these things, and maybe they kept them back for the regular customers - but I live 5 miles from them, have lots of local friends who spend a lot on watches and jewelry and it doesn't take much to stay polite and just say they had now been sold.
I'll stick with the Sub for a while I think!

If the watched were on display in the window then surely they should be available to be purchased by anyone, including the loacl tramp who happens to have £7K in his pocket.
I would call the store and ask to speak to the owner/manager and make a complaint.

Family run business and she said the owner was just on the other side of the shop at the time!
I guess they just think that sort of attitude is acceptable.
Luckily, there is another dealer who I am a customer of only a couple of miles away - and I have never had anything but stellar service from there. So... despite the possibility of a quick fix on a Daytona, I will bide my time and give business where it is due!

I've dealt with Moody's for years and wouldn't go anywhere else.
Staff are really lovely and really helpful.
I think they get fed up with people coming in, trying to buy S/S Daytona's to make a fast buck by selling them on.
I suggest you go back and explain you are a genuine buyer who wants to keep the watch.

Who cares if its a seller trying to make a fast buck, selling it is selling it. Do they care about the feelings and welfare of the watch?Staff are really lovely and really helpful.

Actually it isn't that simple. Manufacturers have strict rules and they can lose the agency.
Rolex is a charitable trust. Why do you think they don't just make more Daytona's to meet demand.
Plus it can have a knock on effect, on the value of the watch if alot more come onto the market for sale.

Whilst I agree with what you said above, I am sorry but regardless of the fact people might be trying to buy to make a fast buck it does not stop staff from being polite and asking more relative questions. It my mind, that is no different to me walking into a Porsche dealership in jeans and T-shirt and the staff assuming you can't afford one. In this day and age that sort of approach is neither relevant nor good business practice.
SS Daytonas are widely avaialble at list in other parts of the world. There does appear to be more demand for them in the UK. But they now seem very very expensive and I expect that when buyers who were on the waiting list are offered them, they may now walk away....6.3k seems very high and what can you make..300 gbp after paying a resellers commission?

So you didn't buy it because the woman was snotty to your wife?
Sorry, but that's a poor reason
I'd do the same. If I was looking to make a purchase and the person was a prick to me, then I'd take my business elsewhere. Simple as that. Sorry, but that's a poor reason
Can't understand why that is such a poor reason.
