Some may recall that last year I asked if it was possible to remove the meta alarm after fitting a rather more advanced modern unit but keep the immobiliser in place. I can now confirm that it could not be easier. I had a viper fitted with proximity detection and door/boot popping and was getting sick of having to disarm 2 alarms, one with the dodgy old TVR fob and even more sick of the TVR alarm flattening the battery. The solution was pretty simple. Remove helmet holder, unplug old alarm, chuck in a box in the boot. The immobiliser still works fine by plugging the code key in the slot under the radio and no more flat battery problems. I had thought that there may be interdependencies between the alarm/immobiliser/door locking systems but it seems not.
