So we have a new arrival in the family - an 09 plate Mito 155hp Veloce and very nice it is too.

..except the CD player doesn't work - it says "no source found" when you press the source button. It did work, insofar as when a cd was put into it for the first time the other day it played it just fine, but now there is no way to get the stereo to recognise it has a CD player since it has been used to play the radio afterwards.

Having had a look at the various forums it seemed that a software update would be the way to go so I downloaded B&M 5.5 and updated the car with it. Since then, now not only does the cd player not work, but now the "windows" and the "phone" buttons on the steering wheel don't work either and it looks like the USB slot may not be reading sticks also (not sure on that as they seem a bit choosy on Mp3 laden memory sticks anyway)

I have tried a battery disconnect for a few minutes (again seemingly supposed to solve problems) but that has made no difference - does anyone have any ideas of how to get this lot going again before I risk the dealer network !?

Many thanks,

Matt.

Surely as a 1 year old car its still under warranty, or does the warranty not cover audio issues?

Switch it off & on again. Seriously, it fixed mine, simply hard reset by unplugging the battery for 15mins or so.

Hi,
as mentioned I tried the battery disconnect for about 10 minutes. The thinking on the alfa forums was that about two the three mins would do it so I was making sure. (?)

a bit disappointed as it it is spoiling the "new car" feeling a bit.

Cheers,
Matt.

How long have you had the car, surely if it is quite a recent purchase the dealer will sort it for you (assuming you bought from a dealer).

Try disconnecting battery & turning the ignition key, or perhaps shouting at it, it's Italian after all.

one week - Private sale I am afraid frown ..and as the CD player worked on initial "play" it seemed fine. The seller said "what a pity" when I phoned them to discuss it and that was as far as that went (anyway that is an aside from getting it fixed).

Have done all that barring the shouting (turned the key to check it was all powered down) ... shouting has got to be worth a go wink

Have you tried a different USB stick, to see if you can get that bit working. Other than the battery disconnect I think it will mean you need to take a trip to the dealer, i'm afraid to say.

I did have some no source problems with the B&M in the 500 when it first arrived, but that was mainly down to the music on the usb stick not being of the correct format.

My main fear is that the dealers won't actually know what to do with it.. do they have some "master" plug-in that can sort it out? On all the message boards I have read I have not heard of any dealerships doing anything useful with Blue & Me, albeit I am happy to be corrected lol !

Have you got the B&M manual? I've got mine here if you need me to take a look for anything.

Hi Catherine, thanks for your input smile

I have got the manual at home and had a look through it but I can't find anything related to getting "no source found" when trying to get it to CD mode.. (or anything on the internet yet) frown

Have you tried here? You probably have but it has been a useful source to me in the past.

Other than that Ii'm afraid to say I think it's a trip to the dealer.

The system is a bit 'Italian' to say the least.

With MP3/USB the folders/file extensions have to be right and in the correct format. I've had full 4GB sticks in and its only shown me 10 or so songs.

Never had the issue with CD though - Had the 'no source' on media when i've had a stick in though. It's infuriating.

I've had a few issues with my blue and me, especially with I-phones and I-pods.

On each occasion though the dealer has updated the software, and got it working for me, at no charge.

I think they'll help you regardless of the warranty excluding cover on this. Surely they will want you car to service when it's due, and if they don't help now you're not very likely to visit them are you......?

If they are intent on charging you, and if it's going to cost more than £65, you could buy an ipod adapter (for £65) that you need to run an ipod. Then, get the nice chap in the showroom to fit your ipop adapter, and get it working. with him there, check out all the functions (CD etc) Hey presto, any problems with your blue & me are now his problem if he can't get it all working.

He'll get a technician down straight away and he'll have it fixed for 'free'. (obviously you've paid an exorbitant amount for an ipopd adapter).

Just an idea.....

I'm surprised disconnecting the battery earth lead didn't reset it.
Try a small capacity memory stick, newly formatted, with just a couple of tracks on it.
Eject any CDs.
If it's the same setup as mine you would then need to voice control "PLAY" and the media player shuld start...

Hi,

Thanks for the thoughts:

I did try a brand new 4gb stick with 4 tracks on it with no luck - is that a bit big?
Sadly can't eject the CD as the system does not think it has a CD player (it says "no source found" for both CD and Memory Stick) there does not seem to be any manual workaround for getting the disc out either?
Equally since the "Windows" button stopped working we have no way of speaking to it as we can't initiate the system "listen".

It really is a bit broken frown

Cheers,
Matt

Matt have you checked the fuse? I know it might sound silly but worth a look. I am assuming blue and me has its own fuse?
