Ive got a Cherokee Jeep.
Starts up fine, revs up, seems okay.
When I put it into D and drive it, it won't go over 50MPH.
The handbrakes not on.
What would make it do that?

Does it have some kind of high/low ratio option on the gearbox?

Are there any fault codes. The ECU may have gone into limp-home mode.

Hetero-shaft in the gearbox has become bent - common problem with Jeeps, although tends to be more common in the wrangler.

Personally I wouldn't want to go over 50 in a Jeep:

hehe

LOL @ the Hetroshaft Bent theory!

if you turn the steering wheel full lock, and drive around slowly, does it do this smoothly or jumping the wheels?
