Following 5 years of doing 'tourist laps' i've decided from next year to do organised track days only. Does anyone have a definitive list of track day organisers that do days at the Nurburgring (Nordschleife only). I am aware of the following:-

RMA
Circuit Days
Pistenclub

we (bookatrack) did our first this year and are hoping to go back in 2011 - don't think the ring have released any 2011 dates yet though.

Destination Nurburgring are another UK operator. They had 2 days there this year and I went to both - recommended. Look out for days that run the VLN layout with the GP pits - definitely better than messing about with the car park IME (even with the reduced car load of a track day and bikerlessness).

I book up on the German days through RSR, in general overtaking rules are where ever you like but the standard of driving is quite mixed but respectful.

sure Dale at BTGmotorsport will be offering a fair few days next year.

and Darren at Ringweekends/destination nurburgring will doing more for sure

i'd be careful on some of the days though as from what i have seen the breifings and safety side are ste. Ones run by destination nurburgring were superb.

AGREE!

GP pits and using the GP track as well as Ring was awesome.

Talking to Graham at RMA the other day, and he said since the recent change of management at the Nurburgring, it's quite likely that next year the venue are going to hike the price to private operators and force them to take an all inclusive Hotel package too. This, he says will ruin the whole experience of staying at the Pistonklause and other local hotels and as a result they won't be going again - as it won't be financially viable.

RMA have the place exclusively for the 6th and 7th of November and I am sure there are other exclusive trips by other operators this year. But I would definately recommend going in 2010 if you want to do continuous laps without buses or motorbikes on the circuit. Next year the ring might only be available on public days. cry

Some unnecessary panicking there based on 1-mans biased and somewhat bitter view of the situation. Whilst I wouldn't bet my house on it, i've been told by the ring management that we should feel "extremely confident" that we'll be offered at least 1 or 2 days at the ring next year. We should know more in the next few weeks.

Chances of those 1 or 2 days not being tied to a Lindner hotel lodging package?

Quite, - Nor do we know the cost yet.
Do hope your right Johnny, all the same.

We will be running track days at the Nürburgring in 2011.

Or I'll eat Jonny's shorts.

I think i'm going to give up my long tradition of multiple yearly touristenfahrten trips in favour of track days, so i'll be looking at what's available in 2011.

We organise trackdays on the Ring too and this is completely new to me.
We'll be organising three days next year as it stands and an all inclusive hotel package hasn't even been subject of discussion....

organised track day at the ring seems a much better option - if you are organising a group, please post in advance ? Thanks

i take it theres no need for 3rd party insurance on a closed track day at the ring? Does each person pay for their own damage in the case of an accident the same as a uk track day?
what about armco/track damages?

In addition some (most, all?) German TDOs will expect 3rd party cover, as that is the norm for Germany, however, if it is a UK TDO (DN, BaT, etc.) it will usually be on the usual UK terms.

+1 for BaT's event at the Ring last year. I went along as a spectator and it seemed really well organised. Definitely looking to attend this year.
